About Finance Treasury

Group Treasury is responsible for the daily operations of all banking activities for the Group and administered medical schemes.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to join our Group Treasury team. The Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the treasury team, ensuring efficient cash management, managing financial risk and controls. This role requires strong leadership skills, financial acumen, ethical standards, and an incumbent that has proven skills operating in a highly pressurized real time environment.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

Team Leadership:

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of treasury professionals.
• Set clear objectives, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor team performance to ensure goals are met.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages growth and development.
• Back Up to staff on their daily function when required.
• Managing and checking that daily tasks are completed by the end of each business day.
• Providing weekly feedback to management
• Ensuring all daily SLA are met within the team.
• Ensuring all SOP, processes and controls are adhered to within the team.
• Strong decision-making skills required and ability to liase with senior management.
• Assisting in implementation of new processes
• Assisting in new projects in the area

Cash Management:

• Manage daily cash positions, including cash flow forecasting, and optimizing cash balances.
• Reviewing the daily execution of payments and transfers via the online platform are successful.
• Monitor bank account activity and ensure funding is sufficient for all outflows.  
• Managing and checking all investments maturities are received into the bank accounts.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Managing daily Investment Confirmations and reconciliations
• Managing of monthly investment statements

Financial Risk Management:

• Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, foreign exchange risk.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company.
• Monitor compliance with treasury policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Treasury Operations:

• Managing the opening and closing of all bank accounts
• Managing the setup of new and closed accounts on investment system which will include linking and delinking of accounts.
• Maintenance of bank accounts, signatories on external and internal systems
• Oversee treasury operations, including Forex payments, ordering of corporate, petrol and foreign Currency Cards and orders.
• Maintain banking relationships and negotiate banking services to optimize cost and efficiency.
• Managing the internal inbox to ensure all calls logged.
• Monitoring and ensuring the day-to-day function of the Payment Approval area is performed.
• Daily QA of functions within the area
• Assisting with internal and external audit
• Continuously evaluate and improve treasury processes and systems to streamline operations and enhance controls.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

• Prepare, analyze financial reports with accuracy which includes monthly reports i.e. Head Count, Payment Approval & Cash figure & EXCO reports.
• Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly cash flow for Discovery Group
• Ensure all reports are provided to business within the stipulated SLA.
• Assist and overseeing the reconciling monthly investment statements.

Education and Experience (Preferred/Optional)

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, CFA (Required)
• 5 years proven experience in treasury management in a leadership role displaying outstanding time management in a real time environment.
• Full knowledge of banking systems, financial controls banking products, and treasury best practices.
• Sign off and prepare monthly reports required by all stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft excel, word, PowerPoint with the ability to prepare proposals and presentations.
• Serve as backup for other treasury functions as needed given the function must continue daily.
